Temple Crag stands as a magnificent natural wonder right in the heart of Big Pine’s stunning landscape. This iconic rock formation attracts outdoor enthusiasts, including avid rock climbers and hikers, all year round.
Our adventure kicks off at Glacier Lodge, where we embark on a picturesque hike following the North Fork of Big Pine Creek. After a few invigorating miles, Temple Crag emerges in all its grandeur, offering a breathtaking vista. Here, we discover a serene campsite ideal for unwinding on sun-warmed rocks or a pristine sandy beach.
On day two, we venture deeper into this alpine paradise, leaving our gear behind at camp as we set out to explore the surrounding alpine lakes. The natural beauty of this region continues to captivate us as we immerse ourselves in its charm.
For our final night, we nestle into the shadows cast by Temple Crag, savoring the tranquility of this unique setting. Then, on day three, we reluctantly bid adieu to this natural wonderland, heading back to civilization with cherished memories of our Temple Crag adventure.

Paul, Evolution Loop Backpacking Trip
“I went on the 6-day Evolution Loop backpacking trip. I had the time of my life. The scenery was stunningly beautiful. Our guides kept us safe, prepared excellent meals, and were very knowledgeable about the area. They were friendly and kept us informed about what to expect each day. I only wish the trip lasted more days. I’ll be back for more.”
